The very first day of Advanced Sports Reporting went pretty well. I saw plenty of familiar faces and the work seems like it will be more than a hand full but I'm still looking forward to it. Howard started off class by laying out the next four months. Everyone seems to be very aware of his trademark mannerisms and phrases. Which should make for some very entertaining if nothing else.
Mike showed a very good video that gave us all a good idea of what could be in store for us. The video explained how sports reporting has evolved from 5 minutes at the end of a news broadcast to a 24/7 business. With thousands of blogs, papers, sites, dedicated covering every sport and every star. Its quite amazing just how stiff the competition in covering sports really is.
My favorite sports to follow have always been pro basketball and football. Just because there very there fun to watch and play. Baseball and Golf are lots of fun to particpate in but I've always hated watching them on television because they just seem to drag on and on.
